There are so many Hebrew idioms throughout the New Testament --it is mindblowing!!! Words such as WAY, LIGHT, LIFE, RIGHTEOUSNESS, TRUTH, WISDOM, LIBERTY, KNOWLEDGE, etc...These are all Hebrew idioms for the Torah - God's instructions for His people (found in Genesis-Deuteronomy)! So when you read verses such as in John where Yeshua (Jesus) said "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me" - He is really saying "I am the Torah, the Torah - HEY I am the TORAH!! No man comes to the Father (Yahweh) but by Me (the Word of Yahweh became flesh aka. Yahweh Himself aka the Torah)!!
I cannot count how many times that I have heard from family and friends "But Jesus came to fulfill the law!!" To which I say a hearty AMEN!!!
In Matthew 5:17 Jesus says, " Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."
Destroying the law was a phrase used to describe those who redefined - misinterpreted the law. And do you know what it was called when someone interpreted the law correctly?
You bet -- FULFILLING THE LAW!!!!!
