As of 2014, there are 41,000 denominations under the Christian umbrella. It blows my mind how so many different belief systems can come (or claim to) from the same Bible! It doesn't matter how many people have tried to get me to see Scriptures differently, I can't help but see things from the perspective of a less trodden path! This path is not new by any means, but in fact, is the oldest belief system that exists. This dichotomy began in Genesis and was founded by no other than God Almighty, the Creator of the universe!
My husband and I have been studying the Bible together and evaluating (re-evaluating) our beliefs! The conclusion we have come to so far is that most of Christianity teaches that God set forth certain rules for a certain group of people (the Jews) yet not for others (the Church), while saying that God is no respecter of persons or that certain laws were put in place for a certain period of time and then done away with! The problem that I have with that is this: if God's Word says that He is no respecter of persons yet He seems to have favorites - or if He sets laws and then changes His mind that they no longer apply only to change His mind again and bring them back into play in the end times (Revelation), then that can mean only one thing: we have a God who cannot be trusted!
The simplest solution to this seems to me that we should take God at His Word when He says "If you love Me keep my commandments" and "for all generations"
1 Peter 1:16 tells us "Be ye holy for I am holy" Do you know where the definition for holy living is found? In the first five books of the Bible!
I have often heard it said of the more recent generations that people no longer know what sin is! Do you know where God's list of sins are found? That's right same answer as above!
The recipients of 1 Peter are named in 1 Peter 1:1 to the "strangers scattered...." if you have followed my previous posts, you will remember that SCATTERED is a clue word! Israel is known in the Bible as SCATTERED SHEEP!
1 Corinthians 1:2 tells us that Paul is writing to "them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus...with all that in every place call on the name of the Lord" A quick glance in a concordance will tell you that the term "sanctified" means consecrated or holy - what group of people in the Bible were set apart and called God's holy people? Israel
Even John 3:16 says that "whosoever BELIEVES on Him ...will have eternal life" When you look up the Greek root words for the English belief - it means so much more than just merely accepting something as true. The true meaning of believe is to TRUST and OBEY! What are we to obey? His commandments? Where do we find those? You bet - in the beginning of the Book!
It is my goal to get back to a Biblical way of worship - one not tainted by adding or taking away from Scriptures by man! One that had its beginning not in the 1600s or even the 1900s but in the BEGINNING!
